He is an Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Specialist with 21 years proven track record in program implementation, extension management, monitoring and evaluation, applied and operational research in; livelihoods, technology adoption, impact evaluation and economic empowerment. He is a lecturer in Rural Development, Extension and Management at Mzuzu University.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Extension from Bunda College, University of Malawi (2007-2011) and a Master’s degree in Rural Development and Management, China Agricultural University (2015-2017).

He has over seven years’ experience in agriculture extension and rural development. He has worked as Lecturer at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources-LUANAR (January,2020-June,2020). He has also worked with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development as Agriculture Extension Methodologies Officer (2014 to January 2020) and as acting Agribusiness officer (2010-2012).

Blessings Nyirenda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies obtained from Pentecostal Life University in 2021 and a Diploma in Food Nutrition and Livelihood Security from Natural Resources College obtained in 2008.

Blessings Nyirenda has over 14 years of development work implementing and managing projects in agriculture, agribusiness, nutrition, gender and natural resources management. Currently working with Total Land Care as District Coordinator, Mzimba he has previously worked with other reputable organizations such as Plan International, Tetra Tech International, ACF Spain, Christian Aid, University of Malawi and Lusubilo Community Organization.

He is Enterprise Development and Management Consultant at Thomson Consult and Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Business at Mzuzu University in the department of Agrisciences. He has a Degree in Accounting from Malawi Adventist University obtained in 2010 and a Master’s degree in Agribusiness Management obtained from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) in 2018.

He has over 10 years’ experience consulting for Farmer Organizations (FOs), Agro-based Small and Medium Enterprises (ASMEs) in various agricultural value chains. He has also provided business development support to USDA, USDAF, SEED and TAML in areas of marketing, business planning, strategic planning, and financial management. He has also provided support to projects on baseline surveys, mid-term and end of project evaluations.
